What a click counter measures

The unit here is the click or tap itself: mouse clicks during practice or testing, touchscreen taps, or any repeated clicking you want a total for. That is different from a tally of people or events, and different from the button counter, which is for pressing a large plus control when the job is simply to count, not to measure clicks.

On a computer, click plus with the mouse or use the keyboard shortcuts. On a phone or tablet, tap plus with your thumb. Space or Arrow Up also adds a click when you are not typing in a field.

Typical click and tap counting

  • Mouse clicks during practice, drills, or testing
  • Touchscreen taps when you are counting taps themselves
  • Repeated clicking you want a running total for
  • Checking how many times a click or tap was performed

How to count clicks

  1. Click or tap + once per action you want to count.
  2. Use − or Undo for an extra click.
  3. Change Count by only if each action should add more than one.
  4. Reset when you start a new session.

Frequently asked questions

Does this count clicks on other websites?

No. It only counts clicks and taps on this page. It does not monitor the rest of your browser.

Can I count taps on a phone?

Yes. Open this page in your mobile browser and tap plus. That is the same counter, used as a tap counter.

How is this different from the button counter?

Use this page when the thing being counted is clicks or taps. Use the button counter when you want a large plus control for ordinary counting and the action itself is not “a click.”
